My name’s Alex and I love the aesthetics of the past eras.
After a good few years of struggle and suffering trying to make money with art online, while living with personal challenges that often made it difficult to sustain labour intensive commercial efforts, I decided to let go of commercial art and the art business altogether.
Instead, I decided to use the power of AI to enjoy an easier artistic life.
More precisely, I decided to focus solely on something I’m growing very fond of: vintage art.
First I would use AI to arrive at a piece of vintage art. Then I would use it as inspiration to learn how to draw and paint it in my sketchbook.
I love how light weight AI image generation is as a process. There is a learning curve to become good at image generation, I’ll give you that, but even this learning curve comes as a joy to me because it comes with far less friction.
Furthermore, I found that AI can be a wonderful tool to learn more about things vintage and the foundations of painting which in turn, I have no doubt, will benefit my drawing and painting practice in my sketchbook.
